The Lumbermill, north-east of Varrock, and the real estate agent east of the palace are absolute essentials for members intending to build their own house.
Members who wish to train up their cat can head to the rat pit in the far south-east of the city.
If you have lost the quest reward from The Family Crest, return to Dimintheis and he will return it to you.
Equally, if you lose Silverlight after Sir Prysin gives it to you in Demon Slayer, return to him to get it back.
There are three altars in the city where you can pray to replenish your prayer points.
Varrock is heralded as one of the oldest surviving cities in Gielinor. As well as taking everything time has thrown at it, it’s also managed to become one of the most powerful and respected cities in the land. Varrock is the capital of Misthalin, and would be the first line of defence should the horrors of the Wilderness ever spill over the border to the north, or if the wicked forces of Morytania were to advance.
Varrock can attribute its power and glory to its excellent location. It has access to all major trading routes and is able to make use of all of Misthalin’s resources. Those who helped construct Varrock long ago were in no doubt at all that the city would be a success – credit has to go to successive rulers throughout the ages who have built Varrock into the superpower it is today.
But those same rulers must also take the blame for the terrible class divide that still plagues the city, and has led to terrible internal strife for many of the residents over the years. The northern part of Varrock is home to the wealthy, where the rich get richer and do their best to ignore the south. Southern Varrock is stricken with poverty where many beg and don’t have access to the basics. Thieves dwell here, hoping to steal from any rich northerners that should ever wander where they shouldn’t.
Varrock lies immediately north of Lumbridge, where adventurers learn their trade. It also lies north-east of Draynor Village and Draynor Manor, and east of Falador.
North of the city is the Wilderness, a lawless land of murderers, rogues and monsters. Being an important city, there are a variety of ways to arrive at Varrock, whether on foot, teleporting, or beneath the ground.
Varrock’s shops are always well-stocked with the best items, but the real attraction is the Grand Exchange, where players of all shapes and sizes can come to trade or buy items that may be normally out of their reach. The Grand Exchange is always open, with its clerks working 24/7 to help you find the best deal possible. The Grand Exchange is located in the north-west of Varrock, with certain items (such as the ring of wealth) transporting you there instantly.
Varrock looks prepared for an invasion. This is the price the city pays for sitting so close to the Wilderness and Morytania. Walking about near Varrock's eastern bank is a Town Crier, who is more than happy to explain the Rules of Conduct and the role of Player Moderators.
You can access the Rune Essence Mine by having a quick chat with Aubury, who can be found in his rune shop in the south-east of the city. South of the city is the Champions' Guild, which is constantly keeping an eye out for talented adventurers. You are also able to buy some potent items upstairs.
Aside from this, the guards and locals might prove worthwhile combat targets to those interested in advancing their skills.
King Roald has turned into something of a worrywart. He’s considered by his subjects to be a wise ruler, but he bears all the problems of Misthalin on his royal shoulders. He’s constantly worrying about attacks coming from nearby Morytania and The Wilderness, and he takes his advisors’ words as gospel instead of listening to his own gut instinct.
King Roald can be found in the throne room of Varrock Palace.
Varrock’s library has something special within its walls. The librarian Reldo has taken his time to read every single book on the library’s shelves, making him a veritable expert on Gielinor’s history. Some say he may be even smarter than the Wise Old Man. However smart he may be, he’s always willing to help out, offering adventurers advice when they need it most.
Reldo can be found in the library inside Varrock Palace.
